Will Arends
I am an Architectural Designer with a passion for creating innovative and functional design solutions. My journey in the building industry began in 2006 as a building laborer while completing my Bachelor of Building Science at Victoria University in Wellington. I later transitioned to a Building Consultant role, where I spent three years specializing in building compliance and long-term maintenance planning.
In 2013, I joined Hutt City Council as a Building Officer, where I gained in-depth knowledge of the Building Act, the New Zealand Building Code, and the building consent process. This experience provided me with a strong foundation in regulatory compliance.
In 2017, I took on a role with Prime Designs, a local design company, where I managed and provided technical support for various projects. In 2019, I became an Architectural Designer at Black House Consulting, focusing on building consent services, including concept design, working drawings, and council-related queries.
In 2025, I rebranded my practice as Fundamental Design Studio to better reflect the comprehensive services I offer and streamline processes for greater efficiency.
I am driven by a commitment to delivering modern design solutions that align with my clients' needs and aspirations. My flexible approach ensures that I work collaboratively with clients to develop designs that are both visually appealing and practical, all while meeting the specific requirements of each project.
